About DUSTIN

I'm an active ten-year Bowie resident and am running to bring proactive leadership to the city council. My vision is for responsible growth that enhances the quality of life for current residents.

Bowie residents deserve a sustainable and vibrant (rich in culture and community) place to live. The city needs leaders who will listen to their concerns and support development that improves the existing quality of life, not that simply benefits the tax base and developers. I envision a future Bowie that is a one the most desirable places in the area to live, work, play and raise a family.

I'd love to hear your priorities for Bowie. Feel welcome to reach out anytime to share your thoughts about our city. Email me at dustin@dustinkuzan.com, or visit me on Next Door.com.

A COMMUNITY LEADER WITHOUT A TITLE

Over the years, I've served our community in many roles

Bowie Forest Homeowners Association

  • Home owner and three year board member (President for 2 years)
  • Addressed neighborhood public safety concerns and code enforcement, coordinated snow removal and landscaping, advocated for improved quality of life

Bowie Green Team Executive  Committee

  • Worked with residents across Bowie to advocate for reducing the city's climate footprint through increased walking and biking infrastructure
  • Advocated and lobbied the city to implement green initiatives and policies

Old Bowie Arts & Entertainment District

  • Brought together community leaders, residents, business owners, and local artists  to establish a group focused on developing an Arts & Entertainment District in Old Bowie
  • Working with the city council and stakeholders to make strategic investments to keep Old Bowie's Main Street vibrant and thriving

Bowie Financial Advisory Committee

  • Selected by the city council  and served as a member for five years
  • Reviewed the city budget annually,  solicited community input, and advised the city council on financial priorities and capital improvements

Multimodal Access and Public Spaces Committee (MAPS)

  • Organized this city-wide committee to review development and infrastructure projects in Bowie following the Marketplace Development controversy
  • Successfully lobbied for improved Trails Master Plan, Complete Streets, and better resident input on new development

My Priorities

  • Establish a new economic strategy for Bowie that allows for growth in recreational amenities, but doesn't depend on new development to pay for it

  • Create and enhance City policies and projects that will promote sustainability and foster a vibrant culture throughout the City

  • Continue to support and strengthen city services for our youth and seniors

  • Find new, innovative ways to improve to our transportation infrastructure

  • Support and strengthen our local community groups and non-profits to improve the quality of life for our residents
